Metal Shark is a leading shipyard supplying custom vessels for commercial, defense, and law enforcement applications worldwide. The company traces its origins to 1986, when Jeanerette, Louisiana-based Gravois Aluminum Boats began producing custom welded aluminum fishing boats for recreational anglers and commercial fishermen. Over the years, the Gravois family developed a loyal following among demanding Gulf Coast fishermen due to the rugged quality of their boats, which were often highly customized to suit the buyer’s needs.

In 2005, Gravois Aluminum Boats turned its attention to government and commercial market with the launch of Metal Shark. Since its launch, Metal Shark quickly established itself as a leading producer of custom aluminum boats for law enforcement, military, and commercial entities. The company has experienced exponential growth under the stewardship of its actively involved owners, who have consistently re-invested in facilities, personnel, and technology. Today, Metal Shark is the number one small boat provider to the U.S. Coast Guard and a leading supplier to the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force, and the militaries of partner nations worldwide.

While Metal Shark often makes headlines for its numerous large government programs, these are just a part of the story. Increasingly, state and local law enforcement offices, fire departments, pilots associations, and commercial interests are turning to Metal Shark, too. The driving forces behind this continued success are an unwavering commitment to innovation through design and engineering excellence, proven durability, and unparalleled customer support.

Metal Shark understands that no two customers’ needs are exactly alike and the company prides itself on being highly adept at anticipating and accommodating the demands of unique mission profiles. Metal Shark routinely modifies vessel plans to meet very specific requirements. Customization may entail anything from altering the physical dimensions or capacities of the vessel, to the installation of specialized equipment and accessories. Layout, electronics, seating, and virtually any other aspect of the vessel’s features may be determined by the customer. With its in-house team of degreed engineers and naval architects, Metal Shark often designs a bespoke model exclusively for the purpose of meeting a particular set of requirements.

More than simply a boat builder, Metal Shark serves as a top-to-bottom solutions provider, routinely partnering with our customers to assist in all phases of boat buying, building, delivery, and ownership cycles. Power Boat Deck Hand Wanted
Dennis Kulesza -- Monday, 22 February 2016, at 10:02 p.m.

Power Boat Deck Hand Wanted on a Caribbean Cruise in the British Virgin Islands from March 3 to March 15th, 2016.

The successful candidate would have a minimum of five (5) years' experience handling lines on thirty (30) foot plus power boats.

The boat they would be working on is 59' luxury motor yacht located in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. It will require flying to St Thomas where they board the boat. From there they will cruise the US and British Virgin Islands.

The boat can be seen online at www.vipyachts.com. Click on the "Our fleet" tab on the home page. It’s the VIP Tarquin 59. The boat is awesome!

It is a luxury yacht with 5 separate cabins, 4 bathrooms, full kitchen, AC, Wi-Fi, huge decks and generator so there will have 110 volt power all the time. There is also a 15' tender and outboard which will used to ferry the guests into all of the beautiful beaches when the boat is at anchor or on a mooring.

The guests that will be onboard have no boating experience so the skipper is looking for a person who would be competent as a deck hand and to run the tender when they go onshore as the boat will be on moorings at night. That person would need solid boating experience, good references and a valid passport as they have to clear British Customs in BVI.

The captain will pick up the airfare for a qualified individual and set them up in a private cabin. Food will be covered while onboard but the deck hand would be responsible for expenses while eating out at restaurants and for their own entertainment. It is an unpaid intern position but the guests understand the deck hand onboard is not being paid and tips would be expected at the end of the cruise.

The successful candidate will get credited sea time for Merchant Marine Documents as the skipper is a Licensed 100 Ton Master.

The crew will live on the boat the whole time while cruising the US and British Virgin Islands stopping at as many islands as time, tide and weather will permit as we go along. A general itinerary is attached. It is advisable to go on line to look at the various islands the yacht will be cruising too. They are all spectacular. In the Virgin Islands the diving, the beaches, night clubs and the restaurants are all awesome!! The deck hand would have ample opportunity to take advantage of all this if they so desired

Interested individuals can contact the captain directly by calling the phone numbers listed below.

Seeking captain and boat for film shoot - Norfolk, VA
Hannah Ayers -- Friday, 29 January 2016, at 12:02 p.m.

I'm a filmmaker based in Richmond, and I'm currently looking for a knowledgeable captain to operate a boat for an upcoming film shoot.

The company I co-direct, Field Studio, is producing a promotional video for the Women's Refugee Commission, a nonprofit based in New York that helps refugees all over the world. The video will dramatize the journey that refugees take by boat to get to Europe. We hope to raise awareness of the challenges refugees face in reaching safety.

We are looking for a fishing boat, which we'll film from above using a drone-operated camera. We will have about 12 extras in the boat, and we will use special effects to make the boat seem much fuller during the editing phase. The shoot itself will be very simple; we'll only need a few minutes' worth of footage of the boat traveling through water.

We hope to do the film shoot on Saturday, March 5th in the Norfolk area (though we're flexible on location). We would of course compensate for your time, based on your charter rates and recognizing the added complications of a film shoot.

If you would consider getting involved in this project -- or know someone who might -- please do let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.
